Kampfakta Brighton Leeds (1-0) oktober 2004

Brighton 1-0 Leeds Clarke Carlisle scored an own goal and Matthew Kilgallon and Paul Butler were sent off on a miserable day for Leeds.

Darren Currie wasted Brighton’s best chance in a bright first-half, firing wide with goal gaping, while Brian Deane headed just wide for Leeds.
After the break, Carlisle, under pressure from Adam Virgo, diverted Currie’s free-kick into his own net.
Late on Kilgallon was dismissed for a foul on Gary Hart, while Butler saw red in stoppage time for a second yellow.

 Brighton boss Mark McGhee:
“A pleasing aspect was how we did in the second half, compared to previous games.”

“Players are believing in themselves more and more and this was reflected in the passing. Confidence is growing all the time.”

 Leeds manager Kevin Blackwell:
“It was a poor game and the conditions didn’t help. Some of the referee’s decisions left everyone baffled.”

“Take nothing away from Brighton – they chased us around the park. Butler now faces a three-match suspension, yet he insists he did not swear.

Because of the rules I couldn’t speak to the referee for 30 minutes after the game. But I will discuss with him what he saw. As for Kilgallon, Gary Hart got up straight away after the challenge which had my player sent off.”
